Tribute to those who died September 11, 2001

On September eleventh I awoke, to what I thought must be a joke.
The news and pictures on TV was something that I should not see.
I sat and viewed a tragedy so great I thought could never be.
What kind of heart so black with evil, only guided by the devil
Could cause us such distress? What kind of cowardice
With such an evil driving force could ever take this heinous course?
So many people that I knew, I cry for every one of you.
Your lives were quickly taken, the rest of us are shaken,
But we shall avenge your death, to our very own last breath,
Until we bring them all to pay for everything they took away.
We know you're in a better place, sitting in the Lord's own Grace,
But know we miss you, one and all, our world is not the same at all.
To all the people that I've met, I tell them we must not forget,
The memories that haunt me still, the memories that always will.
We must never ever grow complacent, as our foes may be adjacent,
Waiting for our eyes to close, so they can crush a budding rose.
We can't allow them to prevail, let's send them all straight back to hell.
The only thing we must make clear, the enemy may not be near.
Though our neighbor's not the same, he too has lost more than a name.
So, before we start our plight, make sure with whom we fight,
So our unity is strong and we can justly right this wrong.
